How to make overnight oats
One of the great things about these peanut butter oats is that they can be made in 5 minutes. The hard part is letting them chill in the fridge (patience people!). These oats need to chill for at least 4-6 hours or overnight (hence their name lol).
STEP 1
Firstly, grab a mason jar with a lid or a small storage container. Either option works well!
STEP 2
Secondly, add all the ingredients in the jar. Mix until all the ingredients together until they are combined really well.
STEP 3
Thirdly, put the lid on the mason jar and store them in the fridge overnight (or for 4-6 hours).
STEP 4
Enjoy them in the morning (add an extra drizzle of peanut butter on top if you please!)
Variations and substitutes
Here are a couple variations and substitutes that you can use to switch up these oats to your liking.
Milk. To get creamy overnight oats you’ll want to use milk. Please don’t use water! Cows milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any diary free milk of choice will work nicely in this recipe.
Peanut butter. You can use creamy or crunchy peanut butter. Make sure you use an all natural kind as processed nut butters have added chemicals and sugars. Give your natural peanut butter a good stir as it may have a layer of oil on top.
Salted peanuts. Feel free to omit the peanuts for another type of nut or seed. Cashews and almonds also work well in this recipe.
Maple syrup. Pure maple syrup works best in this recipe but you can also use honey! Or omit the natural sweeteners all together.
Toppings for oatmeal
While these peanut butter oats are absolutely delicious on their own, they can also be enjoyed with a wide variety of toppings. Here are some toppings for oatmeal that you’ll love!
