<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Between the savory tomato soup and the crispy grilled cheese, this homemade tomato soup truly does not get more comforting. Additionally, I know we all love a soup recipe that is easy to make and requires minimal steps. And this recipe is just that. All we have to do is roast the tomatoes with garlic and onions. Add it to a pot with the remaining ingredients, blend it together, and bam &#8211; you&#8217;ll have a delicious roasted tomato soup at your finger tips. Before we jump into all the details. Let&#8217;s take a minute to break down all the ingredients. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredients in roasted tomato soup</h2>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">We will be using 12<strong> Roma tomatoes</strong> and baking them in the oven along with a few other fresh ingredients. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Garlic cloves</strong> adds so much flavor! Use four cloves of fresh garlic. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Yellow onion</strong> is also roasted along with the garlic and tomatoes. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">We will use both <strong>olive oil</strong> and <strong>butter</strong> to coat the veggies for roasting.</p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Next up, we have <strong>canned crushed tomatoes</strong>! We will add a 28oz can of crushed tomatoes along with the roasted veggies. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Freshly chopped basil</strong> is key! If you don&#8217;t have fresh basil on hand you can substitute in dried basil but use much less. Start out using a tablespoon or two. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Just a dash of<strong> honey</strong> to cut some of the bitterness from the tomatoes. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Chicken broth</strong> helps create the base of the soup and pairs nicely with the tomatoes. </p>



<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Lastly, <strong>half and half</strong> for a bit of creaminess. </p>

<ul class="has-large-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>The best cheese. </strong>The cheese on your sandwich should really be any cheese that you love. The options are endless when it comes to grilled cheese. However, here are a few of my recommendations &#8211; sharp cheddar cheese, pepper jack, gruyere cheese, or provolone. </li></ul>



<ul class="has-large-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Butter or mayo</strong>. Using one of the two is key to creating a crispy outside. </li></ul>

<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and grab a large baking pan and line it with parchment paper or foil. </p>

<p class="has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph">Add the halved tomatoes, garlic, and yellow onion. Drizzle them with olive oil and add the cubes of butter. Bake in the oven for thirty minutes. </p>
