M&M cookie recipe
Who doesn’t love a chewy, warm and chocolatey m and m cookie?
I made a batch of these cookies over the weekend and everyday that week, Peter took a couple to work until they were gone. I think I caught him sneaking a few more after dinner time too LOL. But hey, that just shows how good they are.
In case you didn’t know, I LOVE making cookies, letting them cool, and freezing them.
It’s genius in my opinion. That way we always have yummy treats on hand when guests come over. Or, just for us when we are craving a chocolatey treat!
Simply heat one (or three) in the microwave, pour a glass of milk, and BAM you have the perfect dessert in under 30 seconds.
If you love cookies as much as I do, especially cookies loaded with chocolate and made with wholesome ingredients, then these chocolate M&M cookies are for you!

Ingredients needed for this M&M cookie recipe
You will need the below ingredients to whip up this M&M cookie recipe!
- First up, white whole wheat flour is the main flour used in this recipe.
- Cocoa powder adds a deep, rich chocolate flavor.
- Baking soda is the leavening agent used to puff up these cookies.
- Just a pinch of salt helps enhance the flavor profile.
- One egg binds all the ingredients together.
- Refined coconut oil OR butter are the two baking fats used.
- The combination of coconut sugar and pure maple syrup creates an all natural sweetness.
- Vanilla extract also helps enhance the flavor in these cookies.
- Lastly, M&M candies to finish things off!
What makes these M&M cookies healthier?
White whole wheat flour is the main flour in this recipe. It is whole grain and mild in flavor which makes it great for baking! It is also rich in vitamins, fiber, and minerals.
One of the sweeteners used in this recipe is maple syrup. Pure maple syrup is a great all natural and non processed sweetener. It works great in baked goods by adding chewiness and sweetness.
Possible substitutes for these cookies
- If you don’t have M&Ms feel free to use chocolate chips or even white chocolate chips instead!
- You can substitute the coconut oil for butter. Alternatively, you can sub the butter for coconut oil. Or a combination of both, as long as it is 3/4 cup!
- If you prefer regular all purpose flour you can use that instead of the white whole wheat flour.
Tips for making this chocolate M&M cookie
- Press extra M&Ms into the top of each cookie before baking.
- Combine the dry and wet ingredients separately before combining them together – this prevents over mixing!
- Use refined coconut oil as it is neutral in taste and smell. You can definitely use regular coconut oil but the cookies may end up having a slight coconut taste. Or you can use butter!
How to store these cookies
Once the cookies have cooled, store them in an airtight container.
Store them in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
