<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Whisk the the wet ingredients</strong>. In a medium bowl whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, maple syrup and vanilla. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Mix in the dry ingredients. </strong>Mix in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt with a spoon or spatula. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Preheat the waffle iron.</strong> Let the batter sit while you preheat your waffle iron. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Scoop half batter into the preheated waffle iron. </strong>This recipe makes 2 large waffles.</p>

<p class="has-normal-font-size">Firstly, this recipe is made with <strong>white whole wheat flour</strong>. White whole wheat flour is a nutrient rich whole wheat flour. It is loaded with fiber, vitamins, proteins, and minerals. This flour is mild in flavor so it is perfect for baking! </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size">Secondly, this waffle uses just a tablespoon of <strong>pure maple syrup</strong>! Pure maple syrup is an all natural, plant based sweetener. I love adding it to baked goods to sweeten things up. </p>

<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Blueberries!</strong> My favorite way to enjoy these waffles is with fresh or frozen blueberries.</p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Mini chocolate chips</strong>. Are you a chocolate lover? If so, definitely add chocolate chips to these waffles! Add chocolate chips in the batter before cooking or sprinkle them on top once they are cooked. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Peanut Butter</strong>. I LOVE peanut butter. Add a spread of natural creamy peanut butter on top.</p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Banana</strong>. Slice up a banana, sprinkle it with some cinnamon and bam! Another delicious way to enjoy these waffles.</p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size"><strong>Bacon</strong>. Any bacon lovers out there? Me! Serve up this waffles with a side of crispy bacon.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-can-i-freeze-these-whole-grain-waffles">How can I freeze these whole grain waffles?</h2>



<p class="has-normal-font-size">Once the waffles have fully cooled. Cut them in half (or leave them whole) and put them in a freezer friendly, airtight container. If you are storing them in the same container, make sure you put a piece of parchment paper in between so they don&#8217;t stick. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size">To reheat these waffles, simply let them thaw at room temperature or defrost them in the microwave. </p>



<p class="has-normal-font-size">After defrosting them, add them to your toaster or toaster oven for a few minutes to crisp up the outside. Enjoy!</p>
