Ingredients needed for apple turkey burgers

- Ground turkey, use 93/7 lean as it provides the best textured burgers.
- Blanched almond flour or bread crumbs are used for texture and to help bind the ingredients together.
- One egg binds all the ingredients together and helps to hold these burgers together.
- Here are some of the spices we are working with: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Apple, fuji or honey crisp work best! Simply shredded the apple on a grater, in a food processor, or using a sharp knife.
- Cheddar cheese for good measure. Or feel free to use your favorite cheese of choice.
- Seeded burger buns to top things off! Use seeded burger buns or make a lettuce wrap.
- Fig jam, optional but recommended. The fig jam adds a hint of sweetness and flavor.
Variations and substitutes
- If you don’t have almond flour, use traditional bread crumbs for a 1:1 swap.
- Substitute in your favorite cheese of choice however, I find that the cheddar pairs perfectly with the apple and seasonings! Give brie, mozzarella or pepper jack cheese a try.
- If you aren’t a huge fan of thyme, I recommend using 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (instead of 2 teaspoons).
- Omit the bun and make a lettuce bun with large leafy greens.
