Apple Pie Oatmeal

Apple pie oatmeal is made with a creamy oatmeal base and topped with an apple pie filling. This apple and cinnamon oatmeal is perfect for a chilly fall day or even if you're just craving a cozy bowl of oats. You only need seven simple ingredients and ten minutes of cooking time!

Ingredients

Oatmeal Base

  • 1 cup oats whole oats, quick oats, or gluten free oats
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cup milk

Apple Oatmeal Topping

  • 1 tbsp ghee butter, or coconut oil
  • 1 large apple or 2 small apples
  • 1 tsp EACH: cinnamon, coconut sugar, maple syrup

Additional Toppings

  • walnuts, pecans, banana

Instructions

  • Firstly, make the apple topping. Grab a large pan and add the ghee. Let it it melt and then add all the remaining ingredients.
  • Let the filling ingredients simmer for ten minutes, stirring frequently. It will thicken over the ten minutes and the apples will be coated with the cinnamon mixture.
  • Meanwhile, after about five minutes of cooking the apple filling, make the oatmeal base. Grab a small saucepan and add the oats, milk and cinnamon.
  • Mix the oatmeal ingredients together with a spatula over medium to low heat for 4-5 minutes. If you use whole oats this will take 5-7 minutes to fully cook. If you use quick oats it can take anywhere from 3-5 minutes.
  • Pour the oatmeal into two bowls and add a few spoonfuls of apple pie filling on top. Add other toppings like: walnuts, pecans, cinnamon, and freshly sliced banana.
